Fleet Strategic Initiatives Manager

As a key member of the Corporate Fleet Team, the Fleet Strategic Initiatives Manager is instrumental in driving business performance by leading strategic fleet initiatives across functional teams. This high-visibility role involves collaboration with Corporate and Business Unit leaders, as well as fleet, procurement, safety, finance, and operations teams, to enable data-driven decision-making and improve efficiency. This role reports to the Vice President of Fleet.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Transform data into actionable insights and leverage those insights for business value creation.

  • Improve fleet services decision-making by developing and maintaining data models, dashboards, and key performance metrics.

  • Lead or support various supply chain initiatives, including fleet utilization, total cost of ownership, rental buyouts, environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategies, and fuel recovery.

  • Navigate a complex matrix organization with over 150 branches.

  • Model business scenarios and assess their impact on financial performance, service quality, and risk.

  • Proactively monitor and report on fleet performance, utilization, and asset availability and transfer opportunities

  • Enhance the methodology and practices for developing and deploying fleet "Equipment Rates"

  • Create exception reports and identify areas requiring further attention.

  • Analyze fleet trends, investigate anomalies, and recommend corrective actions.

  • Influence the organization to standardize processes, drive cost-reduction projects, and implement change initiatives.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:

  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment.

  • Ability to define problems, structure analysis, and perform complex evaluations to derive insights and solutions.

  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and unstructured data sets.

  • Demonstrated experience in cross-functional teamwork and leading transformational change.

  • Background in corporate supply chain, business analytics, or fleet management, ideally in a field services or branch-based environment.

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business analytics, business administration, or a related STEM field (MBA preferred).

  • 5-7 years of relevant business experience (Consulting experience is a plus).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and advanced analytics software (such as Tableau, PowerBI, or advanced Excel).

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Travel Requirements:

This position requires travel of up to 25% to multiple Asplundh and supplier locations

As a full-service utility contractor, Asplundh performs tree pruning and removals, right-of-way clearing and maintenance, vegetation management with herbicides, and emergency storm work and logistical support.
