Systems Administrator, Health Policy Institute - McCourt School of Public Policy - Georgetown University

Within Georgetown’s top-ranked McCourt School of Public Policy (https://mccourt.georgetown.edu/) , our multidisciplinary members of the Health Policy Institute (HPI) (https://hpi.georgetown.edu/) conduct research in a wide diversity of projects, focusing on issues relating to health care financing, the uninsured, federal health insurance reforms, quality of care and outcomes research, mental health services research, and the impact of changes in the health care market on providers and patients.

Job Overview

The Systems Administrator provides technical support (maintaining computers, providing technical assistance, and troubleshooting) to projects within the Health Policy Institute (HPI) of the McCourt School of Public Policy. They have a critical role in supporting non-technical faculty and staff to efficiently use technology such as software programs, anti-virus protocols, hardware (e.g., computer CPUs, external hard drives), and web development tools.

Given that our projects are largely public health focused, the System Administrator has responsibilities that are directly aligned with the university’s goals of applicable research for the good of society, commitment to justice and the common good, and intellectual openness – including but not limited to:

  • Maintain websites of the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law and the Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC)

  • Provide IT and web development support (design, content updates, and data-driven sites) to public health projects of the National Center for Education in Maternal and Child Health (NCEMCH), funded by federal and state grants

  • Participate in client relations with these projects

Work Interactions

Reporting to the Research Director within HPI and Co-Director of NCEMCH, the Systems Administrator has a critical role in the effective implementation of all project activities and upon web development to disseminate their work. On both a daily and an as-needed basis, they interact with multiple members of HPI, the O’Neill Institute, GUMC, and NCEMCH.

The Systems Administrator has no direct reports.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 2 to 3 years related experience

  • Knowledge of new technologies - e.g., including editing video, social media, and smart phone APPS

  • Knowledge of ♦ Adobe Creative Suite Content Management Systems (Drupal, WordPress) ♦ FileMaker Pro or similar database with web connectivity ♦ Web technologies (HTML, XML, Javascript, CSS, MySQL, PHP, Apache) ♦ Video and audio editing (Final Cut Pro, iMovie, iDVD, iTunes), and ♦ Google Apps

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree

  • 5 years of full-time web development, CMS and database experience

  • Extensive knowledge of Macintosh OS and related software, OS Server and web server technologies

    The expected pay range for this position is $47,586 to $87,558 per year.

    Georgetown University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay of fered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability , internal equity and external market pay for comparable jobs .
