Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a licensed Electrical Engineer, to serve as Senior Manager & Discipline Lead for immediate employment in our Tampa, FL office. In this role the Electrical Engineer will serve as a Senior Manager for our Electrical team within Tampa's Buildings & Places (B+P) team. The role will provide the leadership and management for the growing electrical team and provide expertise in relation to Electrical Engineering methods and practices within the buildings and facilities space. Ideal candidates will have a strong background and interest in leading and growing a team, as well as building/site engineering and working in a collaborative project team, be client-focused, and champion innovative solutions. This individual will participate in all aspects of a project from scope of work development & fee development, through conceptual and final designs and providing support activities during construction.

AECOM’s Buildings + Places practice includes architecture, interiors, building engineering, workplace strategy, master planning, urban planning, site/civil engineering, and landscape architecture. We provide design and engineering services for diverse building types, and additionally for transportation, defense and security facilities, industrial infrastructure, and other. Our Tampa office includes all disciplines and regularly works across offices and the region for architecture and engineering facilities projects.

The Discipline Lead position presents an opportunity for a candidate to excel in their discipline expertise and leadership capabilities in growing our electrical engineering team. The role is expected to bring senior level expertise, leadership growth, and mentoring team members in their contributions and career paths. The position will also provide for growth in client relationships and internal relationships across offices and region. The position will report to the engineering department manager and will have demonstrated capability to work independently to lead projects and team members contributing to the office’s success.

All discipline leads also have indirect reporting and partnership with the Tampa B+P Managing Principal. AECOM actively supports continued education, training, and innovations in professional development, encouraging employees to gain new industry insights and value for our clients.

The job responsibilities for the position include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Serve as Discipline Lead/Sr. Manager for the Electrical team and have direct reports in varying levels of their career.

  • Serve as lead electrical engineer or senior electrical advisor on a variety of Site and Building project types, including mid-to large size architecture and facility projects.

  • Manage direct reports on multiple projects and lead team members in their contribution and growth.

  • Organize workload for the group, while working independently on project-specific design tasks.

  • Communicate with and present to clients technical solutions regarding project conditions.

  • Project meetings and coordinating with the Architect of Record, and other engineering disciplines.

  • Perform quality control reviews of work developed by others.

  • Provide senior level technical input to studies, design, and technical issues in support of staff, projects, or clientele.

  • Coordinate scope, schedule, budget in working with project managers and other senior level team members.

  • Using AutoCAD and REVIT for designs, engineering, and documentation.

  • Mentor direct reports for design approach and specific technical design aspects (design tools, analysis, standards, design, and calculations, etc.).

  • Participate in the development of technical proposals (including estimates for the engineering budget and schedule)

  • Review permitting agency/engineering standards and regulations necessary to develop proper project design and permitting applications.

  • Work closely with other departments from the AECOM project team/office, including civil, architecture, building engineering, geotechnical, traffic engineers, landscape architects to provide value and partner in project opportunities.

  • Participate in and support site investigations and construction related activities.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS in Electrical Engineering plus 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership.

  • Registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Florida (current FL PE License), or able to obtain FL License via reciprocity from another state within 1 year of employment.

  • Experience as lead electrical engineer for architecture and facility building projects.

  • Experience leading Electrical Building and Site design of multiple projects and organizing work efforts and resources across a department.

  • Experience leading and managing a team of professionals with multiple projects, ensuring team’s responsibilities and department goals.

  • Experience establishing department/discipline goals and objectives, and effectively managing a financial metrics.

  • Experience using AutoCAD and REVIT for project designs and SKM, ETAP and/or Photometric software

  • Experience preparing calculations and design documents (reports, plans, specifications).

  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15 years of relevant electrical engineering experience, covering all aspects of building and site design, having management responsibilities over teams and large-scale projects.

  • Experience with engineering fundamentals and industry standards and best practices.

  • Experience collaborating with senior personnel, senior client project team, and working independently to lead project responsibilities.

  • Experience developing and maintaining client relationships and client satisfaction.

  • Experience working on large and complex projects/programs with multiple project responsibilities.

  • Experience with municipal, federal, and DOD projects and programs.

  • Experience with construction phase services for projects (field reviews, RFI and shop drawing/submittal reviews, specifications, as-builts and record drawings, etc.)

  • Experience with permitting projects, and interaction with authorities having jurisdiction.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $122,820.00 - $175,019.00.
