Conducts fire and life safety building reviews for academic buildings, dormitories, research laboratories/facilities, construction and renovation projects. Reviews new and remodel construction plans and submittals by campus entities or outside contractors for code compliance. Inspects renovation projects of campus facilities for adherence to scope of work under which Construction Permit was issued and reports compliance concerns to University Fire Marshal. Assists with construction plan reviews. Acts as the point of contact for event planning activities for campus.\ \ Regular exposure to physically demanding and hazardous tasks including walking for long periods of time, bending, stooping, lifting, standing, reaching and climbing stairs/ladders. Must pass post-offer physical exam and be physically capable of wearing personal protective equipment. Must be able to lift in excess of 30 pounds. Position may have occasional exposure to unsafe/hazardous environments and/or materials, and extreme temperatures.\ \ Exceptional working conditions range from clean to dirty atmospheres under all types of conditions and weather.\ \ Due to communication expectations of this position, the employee will be required to carry a department-issued cell phone while performing assigned duties. Position will require travel to campus locations including other OSU Campuses and A&Ms.\ \ Employee is expected to work a reasonable amount of overtime serving as a first-aid responder at University-sponsored events.
