UIC Government Services and the Bowhead Family of Companies Cybersecurity Specialist, Senior (LI2S-MC) in Stafford, Virginia

Overview

Bowhead seeks a Senior Cybersecurity Specialist to join our team supporting the Program Office for Logistics Integrated Information Systems – Marine Corps (LI2S-MC) in Stafford, VA. The Cybersecurity Specialist will work directly with the client analyzing complex and unique technical support assignments and lead or collaborate with engineers, cybersecurity personnel, logisticians, and program analysts within a scaled agile environment.

The Cybersecurity Specialist will be:

  • Involved in strategic planning and decision-making related to cybersecurity initiatives within an organization.

  • Contribute to the development of cybersecurity policies and procedures.

  • Responsible for assessing and managing cybersecurity risks at a strategic level.

  • Involved in high-level decision-making, strategic planning as they relate to cybersecurity issues.

Responsibilities

• Provide cybersecurity functions and perform cyber risk management.

• Responsible for the application of Risk Management Framework (RMF) best practices to attain/ maintain continuous Authority-to-Operate (ATO) capability.

• Ensure the cybersecurity posture of assigned projects.

• Support RMF continuous ATO attainment/maintenance.

• Research National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Chairman of the Joints Chiefs of Staff, DoD, Department of the Navy (DON), and USMC Policy and Guidance on Cybersecurity and related topics in response to requests for data or information related to cybersecurity topics, posture, impacts, or issues and reviews.

• Review architectures and designs for cybersecurity compliance and provide recommendations.

• Perform security measures including analysis, periodic testing, evaluation, verification, accreditation, and review of information system installations at appropriate classification levels.

• Support the Portfolio Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) in compliance reviews of portfolio systems.

• Perform application security engineering support for all newly assigned MAGTF Logistics Support Systems (MLS2s) applications including mobile device applications, desktop applications, tablet applications, and mobile handheld computing device applications. This support shall include designing DevSecOps pipelines, toolchains, and processes to ensure cybersecurity requirements are built into all phases of the application development lifecycle for LI2S-MC systems and applications. Support shall be conducted in accordance with approved NIST Special Publications, DON Information Assurance Technical Authority standards, Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), DISA Security Requirement Guides, and vendor security configuration guides, reference Marine Corps Order 5239.2B, “Marine Corps Cybersecurity,” November 2015.

• Document assessment results in a cybersecurity impact assessment report when required.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university; MA/MS degree preferred.

• At least ten (10) years of professional experience including at least six (6) years of specialized experience on high visible or mission critical projects within DoD. Experience with Navy or Marine Corps programs preferred.

• Proven ability to work on high visible or mission critical aspects of a given program and performs all functional duties independently.

• Ability to manage the efforts of less senior staff and/or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific task.

• Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, Government personnel, and other stakeholders.

• Strong interpersonal skills, good judgment, and the ability to lead a team or perform independently.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: The successful candidate must favorably pass a Public Trust background investigation. Candidates with an In-Scope DoD security clearance are highly encouraged to apply. US Citizenship is required.

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds

• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time

• Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
