  • The Nurse in Charge (NIC) is a designated clinical leader for a patient care area who works under the supervision of and in collaboration with the Emergency Department Director to plan and coordinate care at the service/department level. This position is responsible and accountable for:Cost effective decision-making regarding operations including utilization and application of resources. (i.e., human resources, patient care environment, supplies, etc.)Directing and supervising professional and non-professional staffDetermining staff assignment and schedulingAssuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.Other responsibilities as assignedThe NIC supports the Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Health.
