- The Support Coordinator will be required to provide Subject Matter Expertise on Survivor support issues and services and will work in coordination with the Family Programs Director/Coordinator (FPD/FPC) and other Army Reserve Family Programs (ARFP) staff to accomplish missions at assigned performance locations
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide non-clinical assessment to determine the level of support and type of information and referral services to be provided to survivors and will follow-up with survivors for outstanding issue resolution.
Fully document all case activity and assistance in DCIPS, Army databases and Army Reserve client case management tracking tools and perform a DCIPS query once a week to identify new survivors.
Attempt to contact survivors annually to maintain contact and offer assistance to survivors as long as the survivor desires.
Refer Survivor benefits and entitlement questions/concerns to the Casualty Assistance Center Benefits Coordinator and at no time will brief a survivor on the Survivor Benefits Plan (SBP).
Upon receipt of an official transferred survivor, will update DCIPS within three (3) days and provide outreach support to the survivor within ten (10) business days IAW the SOS Operations Manual and COR/SOS PM guidance. Attempt to contact and/ or engage each Survivor through a variety of outreach methods and resources to include, but not limited to; telephone, mailings, electronic mail, Skype, travel, etc.
Contact survivors upon awareness before and after any major disaster in their county coverage area to ensure survivor’s well-being.
Provide training support for Survivors and coordinate with Family Programs Director/Coordinators and other ARFP staff to accomplish mission. Support training to augment financial literacy and Family Programs Director/Coordinator training to support command unit Soldiers and Families.
Ensure information is available to establish a marketing plan to increase command awareness and knowledge of Survivor Outreach Services (SOS) and shall collaborate with appropriate Army Reserve Family Programs Directors/Coordinators (AR FPD/FPC), services and agencies to accomplish the mission and avoid duplication of effort.
Coordinate appropriate SOS support for Family Programs events, to include Survivor recognition ceremonies, partnership programs, and command/unit trainings as requested.
Outreach to local county coverage areas to develop informal partnerships with military, civilian and non-governmental agencies, and organizations to develop resources to maximize available resources to meet Survivor needs. This may include local churches, colleges, veteran’s organizations, social security office, department of human services, behavior health clinics, etc.
Identify community resources that enhance to build resilience and improve personal skills, knowledge and abilities necessary to manage survivor milestones and benefit transition. Referral resources include support groups, life skill education resource; and grief and bereavement counseling resources. Communicate with the Army Reserve (AR) Child, Youth & School Services (CYSS) Program, and other child support resources to connect and refer survivors to respite care, and youth events.
Contact the Casualty Assistance Center Benefits Specialist to conduct Survivor case reviews and inform the Contract PM on high visibility cases.
Ensure all case records; follow up/outreach, training, reports and procedures are in compliance with appropriate SOS program manuals, DCIPS, AR policies and regulatory guidance.
Acquainted with Duty to Warn reporting requirements in order to provide mandatory referrals for all identified threats to harm oneself or others, and suspected or known child/elder abuse incidents, and to provide information regarding available assistance for suspected/known domestic violence.
Review data gathered from surveys, tracking systems, web sites, and Management Information Systems to determine survivor support trends for the respective survivor population. Will stay abreast of research, policies, and legislative changes impacting survivors.
Access DCIPS on a weekly basis to post and review journal entries and search for cases that have had no inquiries with CMOAC within the past two years. Will coordinate case findings with the HQ IMCOM Region Support Specialist to ensure information is updated in Army Case management tracking tool as well as in the AR SOS Case Matrix.
Provide program administrative support services and work in coordination the Family Programs Director/Coordinator with other ARFP staff to meet mission requirements.
Complete a variety of clerical, automation management and typing duties in support of a variety of technical and administrative documents such as correspondence, reports, charts, graphs, statistical data, transmit and receive documents and messages electronically.
Operate office automation systems, several types of software packages, and technical materials related to execution of survivor support.
Maintain electronic case files on a designated secure share drive.
Transmit or receive electronic mail using security protocols identified for access to DCIPS, USAR, and SOS specific Automated Systems.
Document any SOS oriented event hosted, presented, or conducted through partnership with other agencies, no later than five (5) calendar days after occurrence. This documentation shall be provided After Action Reports and shall include a copy of the participant sign-in roster or registration log.
Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual program reports including customer satisfaction results.
Create and publish a short quarterly SOS newsletter (no more than 3 pages) to educate and market resources available to Survivors. Will distribute newsletters by email blasts social media, and community marketing venues, and write articles upon request, no more than quarterly, for submission in Army Reserve or command newsletters.
Provide training support at mission-oriented training events such as Yellow Ribbon, Soldier Life Cycle, FRGs in the New Era, etc., at the request of the Family Program Director or Family Program Coordinator.
Participate in development and evaluation of training materials.
Perform client survey services as directed.

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)
A minimum of a baccalaureate degree in behavioral sciences (i.e. social work, psychology, counseling, sociology) form an accredited college.
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in social service or counseling related environment.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience shall involve planning, organizing work, and analyzing issues to identify significant problems and solutions.

Focus on enhancing the Survivor’s knowledge, skills, and abilities to manage their grief, foster resilience and well-being, and rebuild their life.
Possess communication skills to effectively educate, brief, and tailor presentations for diverse audiences
