What will you do as a Human Resources Generalist

As part of the Human Resources Team, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the Company’s leave of absence and Workers Compensation programs, along with providing exceptional customer service to internal and external customers. This position plays an integral part in assisting the Director of Human Resources develop, implement, and maintain appropriate policies and processes, conduct appropriate learning and development programs, and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations. Additionally, the Human Resources Generalist is expected to live and demonstrate the Company’s Culture while being a servant leader within the company and the communities we serve.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist Director in partnering with employees and management to develop, implement and communicate policies, procedures, laws, standards, and government regulations.

  • Conduct employee new hire orientation.

  • Work with and assist HR Generalist II in matters of employee relations, investigations, and corrective actions.

  • Update and maintain employee records including ensuring accurate payroll and deduction codes and maintaining employee files assuring accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality.

  • Process and monitor Workers’ Compensation claims initiating Return to Work Program when appropriate; monitor FMLA and other Leaves of Absence in compliance with federal and state regulations and company policies and practices.

  • Participate in developing department goals and systems.

  • Assist in the evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals.

  • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.

  • Assist Director in ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations at the corporate and territory levels.

  • Maintain updated process documentation for all functional areas of responsibility within the department.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field or equivalent combination of education and Human Resources experience.

  • One to two years' experience in a related Human Resources position.

  • Knowledge of employment law and other government compliance regulations is preferred.

  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP Certification preferred.

  • Microsoft Office proficiency including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

  • New Hire Orientation

  • Inter-Active Safety Training

  • Continuing education and training specific to position as determined by Director.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Work in an office environment; sustained posture in a seated position for prolonged periods of time; may utilize a computer terminal for prolonged periods of time.

  • Work involves walking, talking and hearing using hands to handle, feel or operate objects. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to focus when using computer terminal.

    PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE)

  • None.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The noise level in the work environment can be moderately noisy due to manufacturing equipment in operation.

  • May be required to travel to territory locations and attend out-of-town training and/or seminars.

  • Work hours may vary from 6 am to 5:30 pm depending on schedules and the season; Monday through Friday; approx. 40-45 hours per week. Additional hours may be required occasionally.
