Job Description

AECOM has a position available for an Ecologist II for our Orlando, Florida or Raleigh, NC locations. In this position you would assist the ecological services department with the evaluation and documentation of natural resources. These evaluations include the identification and assessment of vegetative assemblages and wildlife and plant species, including the establishment of the extent of wetland jurisdiction regulated by local, state, and/or federal agencies.

The successful applicant will have:

  • A working knowledge of wetland assessment using the Uniform Mitigation Assessment Method (UMAM)

  • Environmental permitting, protected species survey requirements knowledge, and strong technical writing capabilities.

  • Working knowledge of fauna and flora indigenous to the southeastern United States and regulations protecting wetlands and protected species.

  • Clear working knowledge of GIS.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental. Science, Ecology, Environmental Studies, Biology, or related field +2 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Due to the nature of work US citizenship is required.

  • Valid Driver’s License and as a condition of employment must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of data collection, data review, and preparation of scientific documents including wetland reports, habitat assessment or species-specific reports.

  • ArcGIS, Survey equipment (GPS units, tablets, etc.) experience.

  • Solid report writing skills and permitting knowledge.

Additional Information

  • The position requires fieldwork, and the candidate must be able to travel (including overnight).

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $48,000.00 - $67,000.00.
