ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY

SUMMARY:Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises is currently searching for one part-time Social Media Coordinator to work in the Marketing Department. The Social Media Coordinator is responsible for administering and implementing creative social media campaigns on our social media platforms. While reporting to the Marketing Manager, this role will work with various department leaders throughout the company to set social media communication standards, conceptualize engaging strategies, and track performance analytics. This is a part-time position that requires 20 hours per week working on-site in the Cal Poly Pomona Foundation administration offices.

ABOUT US:As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Foundation offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year. The Foundation offers positions in various fields; whether it is in the area of technology, science, retail, culinary arts, hospitality1500 management, leadership or research grants, these student employees participate in Cal Poly Pomona's learn-by-doing philosophy and acquire practical skills in their designated field of study.

The Foundation also contributes operating support to nearly 1,100 Foundation and scholarship programs every year, including Bronco Athletics and the Norman J. Priest Scholarship. In addition, the Foundation administers grants and contracts, contributes to campus security, and supports several university publications. The Foundation contributes over $1 million annually to Cal Poly Pomona.

SOME OF THE THINGS YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):

The Social Media Coordinator will be tasked with completing various marketing and communication related tasks which may include but are not limited to:

  • Creating engaging content suitable for various social media platforms.
  • Researches and advises on social media best practices.
  • Stays up to date with social media trends that allow us to maximize platform innovation and audience engagement.
  • Adheres to the brand identity and quality standards for our enterprise units.
  • Responds to comments and messages on all social media platforms.
  • Monitors and reports on social media analytics for all platforms.
  • Other duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong passion for social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and more.
  • Able to conceptualize and implement creative and innovative social media strategies.
  • Ability to write and generate content.
  • Up to date on the latest trends and developments in social media marketing
  • Experience with smartphone photography and videography.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, organize, meet deadlines and multi-task.
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and customer service skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors or AA degree in marketing, communications or related field.
  • 1-3 years of professional related experience.
  • Proficient with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Canva or equivalent software
  • Familiarity with social media planning tools and software
  • Familiar with diversity, equity, and inclusion concepts and best practices.
  • Experience in higher education auxiliary services.

SUPERVISION: May be responsible for the training of student assistants or temporary staff to carry out effective operations of the area assigned as needed.
