Notice of Result letters will not be sent to applicants who respond to this flyer. Responsibilities You will operate and maintain the main engine and associated machinery to assist craft engineers. You will follow radio instructions to maintain safe vessel operations. You will perform line lash-up between a ship or craft and a tug to verify lines are safely secured. You will handle lines and cables during docking, moving, and towing operations. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Assist in navigation of water vessels or tug boats; 2) Operate deck machinery/equipment; and 3) Handle lines and cables during docking, moving, or towing operations. This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments. Incumbent may be required to apply for and obtain a forklift license up to 7.5 tons (15,000 lbs capacity). Callback overtime is a requirement of this position. Employee may be required to become Facility Response Team (FRT) qualified. The position often requires irregular hours. This position requires evening and weekend work. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
