Position Summary:

Under indirect supervision, is responsible for work of average difficulty in the custody, control, care and welfare of inmates of the Sheriffs Detention Facility, is responsible to assist in training of the new detention officers, and in the absence of a supervisor will be responsible for the shift activities, and performs related duties as required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Observes and monitors activities of inmates
• Performs searches of inmates and cells for contraband
• Controls movement and activities of inmates within the facility
• Operates A.C.J.I.S. terminal
• Escorts inmates to various courts
• Documents all facility activities
• Assigns trustee to work details and investigates and writes reports of criminal activity in the detention facility
• Additional duties as assigned
