The Grant Writer will identify, define and develop funding sources to support existing and planned program activities as well as lead the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals to federal, state, and private funding agencies.\ \ ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Research potential government, foundation, and individual grantors using internet sites and other research resources. Recommends best grant/project and appropriate solicitation amounts for each prospect. Continually expands portfolio of foundation prospects suitable for solicitation. This duty is performed daily.
  2. Writes, edits, and proofreads proposals in accordance with grantor standards and requirements. This duty is performed daily.
  3. Develops and writes grants to assist in meeting and fulfilling City needs. Meets with Department Directors and City leaders as needed to remain informed of individual department and overall City needs. Attends various City and community meetings and conducts interviews to obtain and verify information. This duty is performed daily.
  4. Maintains and tracks grant requests and reporting requirements. Maintains database and files regarding information about grantors, including contact information, requests for funding, reporting requirements, deadlines, and whether the requests are funded or not funded. This duty is performed as needed.
  5. Assists the Finance Coordinator in responding to questions concerning grant compliance. Meets with City personnel and funding source agencies as needed to review financial reports, verify figures and information for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with grant regulations.
  6. Prepares accurate and timely progress reports. Regularly informs Mayor and Finance Director of project status and any deviation from established timeline or goals.
  7. Respond to internal and external queries on drafted and submitted proposals.
  8. Maintain positive relationships with fund providers and other stakeholders.
  9. Handle confidential documents and information ensuring that they remain secure.
  10. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  11. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
