The Scheduling Coordinator SLPG is responsible for coordinating and scheduling services among St. Luke's Physician Group (SLPG) outpatient practices and various departments. The Scheduling Coordinator completes all appointment scheduling, cancellation and confirmation requests by matching patient preferences with documented, provider or diagnostic specific scheduling guidelines to provide a first available appointment with patient preferences for each appointment time, date, and location.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates and schedules various appointments for SLPG patients.

  • Coordinates and completes accurate basic registration, demographic, and insurance information to ensure timely and accurate payments for services while scheduling appointments.

  • Assists patients with required screenings and provides detailed instruction regarding upcoming appointments; responds to patient’s questions and needs by editing, cancelling and rescheduling appointments according to department protocol.

  • Determines patients' financial needs and assists when necessary.

  • Processes referrals and pre-authorizations for diagnostic appointments.

  • Updates and or communicates correct patient information to appropriate staff, departments, and computer systems. Informs coordinator, supervisor, or manager of any scheduling or insurance issues.

  • Maintains flow of communication by providing information and direction to patients, and if necessary identifies other staff members for a patient to speak with to resolve questions and concerns.

  • Coordinates stat scheduling directly with the appropriate departments and providers.

  • Maintains Ongoing knowledge of scheduling and registration procedures as per department or SLPG outpatient practice protocols.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Sit up to 7 hours per day; 4 hours at a time. Walk 1 hour per day; 20 minutes at a time. Consistently required to use manual dexterity for fingering and handling. Frequently lifts objects up to 10 pounds. Frequently reaches above shoulder level. Must be able to perceive attributes of an object through touch. Must be able to hear as it relates to normal conversation, high and low frequencies. Must be able to see as it relates to general, near, far, color and peripheral vision.

EDUCATION: High School diploma or GED

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

One to two years of call center experience or experience in a medical office, hospital, or business office with high patient/customer volumes.
