Experimental Test Pilot XP

JHNA is seeking a talented Experimental Test Pilot to join our growing Fort Eustis team in Newport News, VA.

This role is part of a bid and proposal effort with a "start work" timeframe of Fall 2023.

The candidate will be supporting the Army's Aviation Development Directorate (ADD) Engineering Design and Analysis Branch (EDandA) with the integration of systems onto aircrafts or other UAVs for the US Army. This position will require on-site support at Fort Eustis, VA.

Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the planning, executing, and reporting of developmental flight test that supports research and advanced concept programs that support aviation initiatives for TDD-A, the Army, government agencies, and the defense industry.
  • Coordinate and execute ground and flight testing or test-related activities for the various research and development activities to include: testing activities at airfield or off-site, test program management, project test support and program management for test activities.
  • Coordinates test efforts with acquisition agencies including Program Manager's offices, (Training and Doctrine Command) TRADOC Capability Managers, contractors, and the user community. The XP performs experimental test pilot duties in multiple aircraft types IAW U.S. Naval Test Pilot School (USNTPS) Flight Test Manuals and ADD SOPs and command directives and memorandums.
  • This effort will require the contractor to be in compliance with Army Regulation 95-20. Additionally, XPs will act as Test Directors and supervise flight test programs and all test flight activities on assigned projects and programs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Aero, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance or Interim Clearance
  • Must be a graduate of USNTPS; Minimum of 15 years' experience with military rotary wing and fixed wing aircraft; Minimum of 5 years' experience in the development of systems design, systems applications, engineering, developmental and acceptance test including fielding and sustainment of aircraft and aircraft systems. Desired: The Pilot shall possess a current FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate, Instrument rating (helicopter) as required by AR 95-20.
