The Salvation Army Program Assistant (Times Square Corps) in New York, New York

Overview

  • To assist Corps Officers and Artistic Director in various programs.

  • Assist in Corps/Church Programming

  • Assist in Theatre Ministry and Production Work

Responsibilities

  • Assist Corps Officers and Artistic Director in various programs

  • Corps/Church Ministry including but not limited to Kids Program, Women’s and Men’s Ministries, Evangelistic efforts, and outreach.

  • Theatre Ministry and Production Work may include (but not limited to)

  • Carpentry – constructing sets, using power tools, painting

  • Lighting – running cables, climbing ladders, hanging instruments

  • Staging – setting up, tearing down, and moving platforms

  • Wardrobe – folding, organizing, and arranging costumes and fabric

  • Sound – turning on/off the sound systems

  • House – setting up and/or removing chairs for the audience

  • Website & Social Media – general knowledge of using computer technology

  • Assist and occasionally lead programs

  • Monitor and manage Social Media accounts

  • Creatively execute projects

  • Manage work schedule appropriately

  • Assistant in transportation of campers to Star Lake Camp

  • Assist Corps Officers with other tasks and assignments as given by them.

  • Confidentiality is essential for this position. Breaching said confidentiality will result in immediate termination of service without further warning.

  • You must perform all duties in compliance with Salvation Army policies and regulations.

  • It should be noted that the above duties are the essential functions of the position, but other duties necessary to the overall enhancement of Salvation Army service may be required.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree or Theatre or relevant Performing Arts Degree

  • At least 2 years relevant experience in Ministry and/or Production Assisting.

  • Experience in and working knowledge of theatrical stage productions

  • Understanding of both the performance and technical side of stage production

  • Experience in Stage Management

  • Strong communication skills

  • English and Spanish speaking skills

  • Comfortable multi-tasking and executing tasks without guidance

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Basic Computer Skills

  • Valid NYS Driver’s License

  • Punctual and consistently reliable

  • Understanding of the mission of The Salvation Army

  • Believer and follower of Jesus Christ
