Job Summary and Qualifications

In this role as a pharmacist at TriStar Centennial Medical Center, responsibilities include accurately reviewing and interpreting medication orders, ensuring appropriate medication usage, identifying allergies and potential interactions, and maintaining medication security according to facility policies and regulatory standards. Additionally, professional duties such as procurement, preparation, labeling, distribution, and documentation of clinical interventions will be performed. Supporting staff training and education while adhering to departmental and facility policies and goals is also expected.

Qualifications:

  • Hold a BS or Pharm.D. degree from an American Council on Pharmacy Education accredited College of Pharmacy.

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with healthcare team members.

  • Maintain active Tennessee state licensure as a Pharmacist.

  • Preferably have completed a PGY-1 pharmacy practice residency or possess three years of hospital pharmacy experience.

  • Obtain BLS and ACLS certifications within three months of hire.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and interpret medication orders to ensure completeness, safety, and accuracy.

  • Collaborate with physicians and nursing staff on medication-related matters.

  • Provide clinical pharmaceutical care to assigned areas.

  • Assist in training and supervising pharmacy technician personnel.

  • Maintain knowledge of automated dispensing processes and software systems.

  • Provide education on rational medication therapy and procedures as needed.

  • Retrieve, analyze, and interpret scientific literature for accurate drug information.

  • Safely compound and dispense medications in appropriate dosage forms.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders in the medication use process.

  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and inventory control.

  • Utilize knowledge of age-specific patient needs.

  • Follow Standard Precautions and comply with required classes and vaccinations.

  • Fulfill additional pharmacy staffing hours and duties as assigned.
