The coordinator will work in two key areas while promoting strengths-based approaches*: 1) to support the development of job skills among employees with disabilities to match their interests, experiences, and preferences, and 2) to negotiate, match, and align their interests and skills with functional job tasks currently available or meaningful to the mission and work across ICI's centers and projects. *Strengths based approaches (or asset-based) approaches focus on individuals' strengths (including personal strengths and social and community networks) and not on their deficits. Strengths-based practice is a collaborative process between the person supported and those supporting them, allowing them to work together to determine an outcome that draws on the person's strengths, assets, and potential contributions to the valued work at ICI (). Job Responsibilities Employee Job Skill Development (40%) Implement a discovery process with new job candidates to identify interests, preferences, learning styles, strengths, skills, potential job contributions, ideal conditions of employment, training/supervision needs, helpful job accommodations, emerging employment themes, and an individual profile and staging record to negotiate competitive integrated employment options. Design and implement training programs tailored to individual needs, focusing on both technical and soft skills required for the workplace. Modify training methods and materials to accommodate different learning styles and abilities, ensuring an inclusive learning environment. Facilitate effective communication between participants and ICI supervisors and co-workers, ensuring clear understanding of expectations and job requirements. Provide job coaching and practical support to individuals, helping them overcome challenges and build confidence in their abilities. Advocate for the rights and needs of individuals with disabilities in the workplace, ensuring they are treated fairly and provided with necessary accommodations. Track participants' progress, regularly assess their performance, and adjust training strategies as needed to ensure continuous improvement. Empower individuals to become self-sufficient by teaching them problem-solving skills, effective communication, and self-advocacy techniques. Coordinate with PIs and Supervisors on work they need done (30%) Support ICI's PI's, managers, and administrators in designing customized employment positions including tasks and duties, expected performance standards, hours worked, and other criteria to define the job and contributions of the employee. Stay current on work occurring at ICI by attending project staff meetings and other events. Collaborate with project staff on ways employees with disabilities at ICI can fill needed roles on present and future projects. Match, negoti te, and modify available work to make it accessible to ICI employees. Work closely with PIs, supervisors, managers, and colleagues, and other service providers to create inclusive work environments and enhance employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Gather feedback from participants, PIs, supervisors, managers, co-workers employers, and other stakeholders to continuously improve programs and services. Administrative (20%) Continuously update knowledge and skills through workshops, conferences, and training sessions to provide the and best possible support to individuals with disabilities. Attend and participate in ICI/UMN required trainings and meetings. Provide support on training, technical assistance, and research projects as appropriate. Support Daily Needs of ICI Employees with Disabilities (10%) Build internal, work-related job support and infrastructure to support ICI employees with disabilities. Assist with providing accommodations to make space accessible to staff who have mobility needs or other limitations so they can meet their daily personal needs. Help coordinate work schedules to meet both employee and project needs. Qualifications Required Qualifications BA/BS in relevant field and 3 or more years of related professional experience. Examples of relevant experience would include previous full-time experience working as a Direct Support Professional and/or Customized Employment Professional. Demonstrated commitment to advocating for an inclusive environment for all backgrounds and identities. Ability to collaborate effectively with people from a variety of communities, backgrounds, and identities. Willing to acquire ACRE certification in Discovery & Customized Employment within one year of hire. Preferred Qualifications ACRE certification in Discovery & Customized Employment. Experience conducting the Discovery Process as it relates to Customized Employment. Experience with person-centered thinking and planning.
