Mortenson Construction Assistant Superintendent in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Let's Redefine Possible SUMMARY Provide leadership in vision, strategy, and thinking methodologies used to innovate new products and services, introduce novel or disruptive ideas, improve existing processes, and create a culture of innovation within Mortenson. Lead innovation projects using skills and experience in construction. RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for supporting operational management of innovation initiatives and Mortenson's research and development facility, as well as evaluating new capabilities, products, tools, equipment and software. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Constructing prototypes and executing testing procedures to validate innovations. Supervising trade partners and craft team members. Managing facility's logistics, organization, and cleanliness. Coordinating shipping and deliveries. Facilitating team member participatory events. Supporting low-volume production operations and storage/logistic requests, as needed. Forecasting and Managing facility budget and schedule. Participate in hire and dismissal process of craft workers. QUALIFICATIONS Competent at reading all major types of design drawings (i.e. civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical). Rough and finish carpentry, metal fabrication, light electrical and mechanical Proficiency in estimating and scheduling small-scale projects / operations. Competency with Microsoft 365 Applications (I.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.) Equipment/Tool utilization including but not limited to, Scissor/Boom/Forklift, Welder and Metals Fabrication Equipment, Power Tools, Concrete Tools Broad knowledge of construction materials 5+ years' experience in residential, commercial and/or energy infrastructure construction. Other duties as assigned: Assuring safety and quality standards in all operations. Communicating progress updates and providing financial projections for projects/initiatives. Creating an environment conducive to creation and promoting the imagination of others. Communicating and celebrating the successful innovative ideas of team members. Assisting in the testing and evaluation of software and technology intended for project sites. Train and educate interns and other employees with limited hands-on experience. Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels and lead team members by example.
