The WW Ops Finance S&A (Standardization and Automation) EU data engineering team’s vision is to delight our financial stakeholders through improvements and simplifications to the financial process. To achieve this vision, we are in search of a talented data engineer and craftsman who builds robust data products that scales as well as client-facing features which are intuitive and simple to use.

Our team takes a world view of financial processes for all of Amazon and builds highly customized and seamless planning experiences for our global customers. This focus on the financial process requires working on different technologies and back-end platform systems in order to meet the needs of our customers. Our back-end systems are always available and guarantee that our customer’s will be able to use them during planning cycles. You will have a chance to understand and influence Amazon's technical approach to financial processes.

Our team is highly motivated and in need of an experienced data engineer who can take project's technical reigns and steer them in the direction of our vision.

Key job responsibilities

  • Work closely with senior engineers to model, implement data pipelines that feed into or from financial planning data systems.

  • Own the delivery of data modelling and data pipelines.

  • Management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments

  • Assist directly and indirectly in the continual hiring and development of technical talent.

  • Create and execute appropriate quality plans, project plans, test strategies and processes for development activities in concert with business and project management efforts.

The ideal candidate will be a leader, quick learner and be able to work independently. He/she should be able to operate in a very fast paced environment where time to hit market is super critical. The candidate will need to balance technical leadership and savvy with strong business judgment to make the right decisions about technology choices.

A day in the life

You work with the Engineering, Product, BI and Operations teams to implement best-of-class data solutions for world wide operation finance organization. You solve unstructured customer pain points with technical solutions, you are focused on users productivity when working with the data. You participate in discussions with stakeholders to provide updates on project progress, gather feedback, and align on priorities. Utilizing AWS CDK and various AWS services, you design, execute, and deploy solutions.

About the team

WW Operations Finance Standardization and Automation improves customer experience and business outcomes across Amazon Operations Finance through innovative technical solutions, standardization and automation of processes and use of cutting-edge technology.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Luxembourg, LUX

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines

  • Experience as a data engineer or related specialty (e.g., software engineer, business intelligence engineer, data scientist) with a track record of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large datasets

  • Experience working on and delivering end to end projects independently

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)

  • 2+ years of relational database technology (such as Redshift, MySQL or MS SQL) experience

  • 2+ years of developing and operating large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics (using ETL/ELT processes) experience

  • 2+ years experience in at least one scripting or programming language, such as Python, Scala, Ruby etc.

  • Experience with Native AWS Tools and Technologies (S3, EMR , Glue , SNS,- SQS, Cloud watch, Event bridge, MWAA, lambda etc )

  • Experience with MAWS Tools and Technologies used across CDO (Cradle , Data net , Andes etc )
