Our client has a brand new opportunity for a qualified Level 3 Linux System Administrator to join their team onsite in Louisville, KY. This role's main focus is Linux based operating systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages Security and Compliance activities for Server Equipment, thus ensuring the data and computing resources are secured and in stable condition
Owns and implements Knowledge Management Practices by creating, updating, and deprecating work instructions and Standard Operating Procedures
Owns escalations by clients, junior, and mid-level administrators and provides technical guidance as needed
Interface with Technology Vendors to solve complex issues
Participate in major incident calls and client meetings as a subject matter expert
Extensive knowledge in server security baseline, advanced server troubleshooting and maintenance skills
Advanced knowledge in Bash shell, MySQL, Postfix, IP tables, performs imaging of servers utilizing common imaging tools
Performs patching, hardening, and automated deployments
Prepare / maintain documentation and operations guides
Perform in-depth root cause analysis and develop a detailed action plan to implement related solutions
Perform as a Subject Matter Expert between organization and their clients by answering any technical questions on conference calls or email communications
Possess advanced and proven troubleshooting skills in Linux based Operating Systems in large enterprise environments
Must be familiar with Advanced Linux based service functionality and troubleshooting, and possess extensive familiarity and comfort with Linux Shell(bash) scripting, Python scripting, Satellite / Spacewalk management and deployment, and XML-RPC
Be available for after-hours support and on-call rotations as needed
Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise environment
Minimum 3+ years of experience fulfilling Server Administration and performing break / fix duties
RHCE certification or equivalent
Hands on experience with:
Linux LVM, OVM, KVM, RHEV, docker container / OpenShift
Redhat licensing / subscription awareness
Network based OS installation (kickstart) and management of Redhat Linux, cluster and satellite
OS upgrades and applying security updates (patching), Schedulers, Cron Jobs, Transaction logging
Security Hardening of the Operating Systems
Network Based File Sharing protocols (FTP / NFS / CIFS / SAMBA)
File System management and User management
Experience in deploying, maintaining, and supporting Linux Server infrastructures and storage systems in an enterprise environment
Responsible for resolving all technical incidents escalated by the L2 team
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate and explain technical subjects
Ability to conduct research into server issues and related components and locate information quickly and accurately
Ability to multitask and prioritize work efficiently, while assessing risk and consequence of performed duties
Experience engaging hardware vendors as needed to address software and hardware issues
Ability to work without direct supervision and complete tasks on time
Understanding of Virtual platform technologies such as VMWare
Familiarity with VMWare architecture and functionality is a plus
Familiarity with remote management console technologies and functionality
Knowledge of SAN / NAS, Clustering services and technologies are a plus
