Overview The Prevention Specialist will support the development, implementation, management, evaluation, and institutionalization of USU's employee education programs to respond to and prevent sexual misconduct. This position will strengthen USU's sexual misconduct prevention efforts using a public health approach to promote the health and safety of USU faculty and staff.

The Prevention Specialist will also support USU's bias and discrimination response and prevention efforts for employees, specifically through facilitating relevant trainings.

This position will use a strategic, proactive, and collaborative approach to help implement sexual misconduct and discrimination prevention plans for employees.

The Prevention Specialist will work outside of regular business hours on average 2-3 times a month. Some travel from the main campus in Logan to other USU campuses is required.

Responsibilities Program Development and Management (85%)

  • Support compliance with USUs employee sexual misconduct prevention training requirement.
  • Develop and facilitate other sexual misconduct prevention trainings for employees, addressing topics such as consent, effective workplace relationships, and boundary setting.
  • Develop and facilitate trainings for employee respondents who have been reported for sexual misconduct or discriminatory behaviors.
  • Facilitate tracking of employees who have received sexual misconduct and discrimination prevention training.
  • Help create and implement a communications plan to reinforce sexual misconduct and bias and discrimination prevention efforts that targets a diverse group of employees.
  • As needed, coordinate, help tailor, and implement the universitys bystander intervention training (Upstanding) for students, staff, and faculty.
  • As needed, support compliance with USUs hard mandate for requiring all incoming students, transfer students, and students returning from a leave of absence to complete sexual misconduct prevention training.
  • As needed, support and help supervise student volunteers, interns, and/or staff. Develop and Manage Other Programs (10%)

  • Support USUs bias and discrimination response efforts. Develop and facilitate training about USUs anti-discrimination policy and prevention trainings related to addressing biases in the workplace. Support the senior prevention specialist in implementing the universitys bystander intervention training (Upstanding) for students and employees. Program Evaluation (5%)

  • Help create and implement evaluation tools to determine the impact of sexual misconduct and discrimination prevention programs on participants.

  • Help identify and use evaluation data to ensure continuous quality improvement of sexual misconduct and discrimination prevention programming for employees.
  • Other duties as assigned.
