Description

Dawson, a K-12 independent school of 535 students located east of Boulder on a beautiful 112-acre campus, seeks aDevelopment Event Specialist for the 2024-25 school year. This position works a faculty schedule fromAugust 1, 2024  to May 31, 2025.This position is a key member of the school’s Development team and works closely with the Director of Development to support ongoing Development events.  Dawson is a growing and passionate educational community dedicated to the healthy development and education of all of its students.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 2 years of experience in development or event planning

  • Experience with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT and ClickBid preferred.

  • Excellent written, oral, and communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Proficiency with Mac computers and Google Suite

Duties and Responsibilities

Event Planning and Execution

  • Establish relationships with volunteers by finding ways they can assist with events and encourage volunteer involvement. Train volunteers for their duties at events.

  • Partner with the Director of Development to coordinate event logistics, including determining volunteer needs, arranging venues, catering, and decor, organizing event setup and cleanup, and ensuring all event logistics (invitations, mailings, follow-up calls and emails, and preparation of event materials) and timelines are followed. 

  • Serve as event lead for several annual events - Farm to Table, Grand Day, and the annual auction.

  • Work with the Director of Development to manage event expenses and budget.

  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications Office to create collateral for Development events.

  • Provide event participants opportunities for feedback and evaluation of events.

  • Provide reports, verbally and in writing, to groups as assigned – such as the Board of Trustees, Committees, and the Leadership Team.

  • Works with student groups to help them with planning and executing student-run events such as Pony Puff, Open Mic Nights, Movie Nights, Bake Sales, and more.

  • Other duties as assigned 

The salary range for this position is $45,000 to $55,000, and commensurate with experience. Benefits include medical, dental, 401(k), and generous time off.
