Position: Water Safety Instructor Salary: $17.00/hour + depending on experience

DUTIES :

Manage swimming pool activities. Assign lifeguards to duty in accordance with schedule governing operating hours. Ensure compliance with operating policies, instructions, safety rules and swimming practices. Acts as water safety instructor and lifeguard, instructs beginners in swimming; gives life-saving instructions as required.

Supervises and instructs in the proper use and maintenance of pool equipment including water testing. Checks condition of showers and bathrooms and outside areas; ensures that all areas are maintained in a neat and sanitary condition; makes notes of condition of facilities and reports to supervisor and submits work orders as necessary.

Checks premises for fire hazards and ensures that facility is secured at closing time. Manages facility income and prepares weekly financial deposits to MWR Accountant. Comply with quarterly budget established for facility. Compose and administer reports and bids for facility maintenance and renovations. Ensure current with certifications; prepares yearly staff evaluations.

Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :

Minimum:

  1. Must possess and maintain the following certifications: Lifeguarding, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for the Professional Rescuer; Automated External Defibrillation (AED), and First Aid; (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e., Star Guard or Ellis); and the American Red Cross; Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certificate.

    Preferred (in addition to the minimum):

  • Work experience related to the duties described above.
