Federal Emergency Management Agency Archeologist in Kihei, Hawaii

In this Archeologist position, you will support Region 9, Mitigation Division in the Environmental and Historic Preservation (EHP) Branch.

Typical assignments include:

  • Providing archeology expertise and technical advice on archaeological resources for complex or controversial projects, to include developing and implementing archaeological monitoring plans.
  • Reviewing and evaluating post-disaster Mitigation and Public Assistance grants submitted by state and local governments for FEMA approval in accordance with the Stafford Act and all other applicable environmental and historic preservation laws, regulations and executive orders.
  • Providing technical guidance to federal, state, and local officials in the development of sound plans and construction strategies to reduce potential adverse impacts to natural or cultural resources.
  • Consulting with and developing partnerships with state and local officials, and assisting partners in establishing priorities for incorporation of EHP values and considerations into project planning.
  • Supporting the region in assessing training needs of field and regional staff as well as federal, state, and local partners, and delivering training to improve the quality of project applications and project compliance.
