We have an exciting opportunity for a Rendezvous and Proximity Operations Deorbit Vehicle Oversight Engineer to join the team with JETS II Teammate Company, GeoControl Systems, Inc.

The Project Engineer for the ISS & Orion Life Support Systems will:

  • Maintain Life Support Systems Flight Hardware before and after flight

  • Generate essential paperwork and documents for tasks assigned, such as Task Performance Sheets (TPS), Discrepancy Reports (DR), and Detailed Test Procedures (DTP), as needed

  • Perform engineering and testing functions in manufacturing, procuring, assembling, and testing flight hardware items

  • Coordinate with matrix organizations and vendors in issue resolution, assembly, and testing of flight hardware

  • Investigate and analyze flight hardware anomalies and implement corrective actions

  • Perform job functions based on pre-established guidelines or instructions

  • Work in a team environment and report to a more senior engineer, project lead, or project manager for technical support, task assignment, processes (training & implementation)

  • Review and evaluate the quantity, quality, and overall adequacy of results and conclusions drawn from accomplishment of engineering tasks

  • Select and apply engineering techniques and procedures to analyze and evaluate specific problems, data, or other features of the work which are broad in scope and complexity

  • Perform other duties as required

Here’s what you’ll need :

Requisition Qualifications:

This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.

  • BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to coordinate support from a wide range of technical disciplines

  • Basic knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in the field, such as mechanical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, thermal testing, design software and tools, and office software

  • Must have the ability to visualize and work with complex mechanical systems and work with others in problem solving as part of a team

  • Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines and schedules and to work unsupervised for long periods of time

Requisition Preferences:

  • Prior experience with flight hardware or with Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS) hardware development

  • Familiar with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
