We are seeking an experienced, versatile, and customer-obsessed Procurement Specialist, Value Engineering who will be responsible for driving value engineering initiatives in one or several procurement categories (for example Packaging, Robotics, Material Handling Equipment, CAPEX, Freight, MRO). The ideal candidate has experience in procurement/value engineering with an expertise in one or several of the mentioned procurement categories. Alternatively, the candidate is a mechanical engineer with industrial expertise and a deep understanding of cost drivers, value optimization, and ideally experience in supplier negotiations.

Ability to steer extended cross-discipline teams, as well as project management and executive presentation skills, are essential. Main responsibilities:

• Develop overall procurement value engineering roadmap and establish should-costing for one or several procurement categories

• Utilize value engineering methodologies and appropriate software tools to prepare reliable bottom-up cost models, should-cost targets, and value optimization opportunities during design, specification, and development process in close collaboration with category managers, engineering, and construction

• Support preparation and evaluation of call for tenders and supplier quotations, prepare negotiation dossiers from value engineering viewpoint in close collaboration with category managers

• Ensure supplier quotations meet 'should cost' estimates and value engineering targets, support negotiations by challenging quotations using technical analysis aiming for cost reductions and value optimization

• Advise on the cost and value impact of changes in specification

• Collaborate with suppliers and internal customers to investigate and identify product innovations, design-to-value initiatives, and value engineering opportunities with the ultimate target to achieve cost improvement and value optimization

• Communicate with and support management decisions by providing appropriate cost and value information

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of program or project management experience

  • 3+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience

  • 3+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience

  • 2+ years of supply chain experience

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL

  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience

  • 3+ years of driving process improvements experience

  • Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization

  • Experience building processes, project management, and schedules

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $68,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $141,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
