Catholic Health Initiatives Emergency Room Technician in Hot Springs, Arkansas

Overview

As our P at CHI St Vincent Hot Springs, you will help our patients by providing care to our patients in our Emergency Department. You will work with our patients daily to evaluate their needs and provide physical or psychosocial care.

No two days in emergency nursing are ever the same. You’re a multitasker who can react quickly as you’ll prioritize patients based on their medical necessity while you’re providing emergency triage to others. To succeed in this role, you must have genuine compassion for your patient’s well-being and understand your part in helping our patients feel at ease. You also have the patience to explain the process, answer questions and update documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care and support to patients under the direction of a nurse and physician

  • Document procedures and interactions in the patient’s health record

  • Must be able to perform the following tasks efficiently: perform/record vital signs, phlebotomy, CPR, apply oxygen delivering systems, perform simple wound irrigation/direct pressure/ dressings, prepare sterile fields for suturing, assist MD with treatment of nosebleed and other emergent conditions, apply restraints, clean medical equipment and prepare for sterilization, collect urine specimens, greet patients/family and prepare patients for physician/nurse examination.

  • Place the patient on cardiac monitor, identify potential life threatening arrhythmias and report immediately to the appropriate provider, pulse oximetry measurement, set up rooms for special procedures (pelvic, exams, ENT, sutures), apply splints and teach crutch walking.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Required

  • One of the following must be met:

  • EMT and NREMT

  • Certified Nurse Assistant

  • Evidence of fundamentals of nursing and one semester of clinical practice in an RN school

  • Minimum of 6 months of direct patient care in an acute care setting within the past 24 months

  • BLS certification required

Pay Range

$15.49 - $21.30 /hour
