UC Health is committed to providing an inclusive, equitable and diverse place of employment. The Surgical Assistant assists the surgeon during surgical procedures at the direction of the surgeon. The Surgical Assistant functions as a member of the surgical team in room preparation, turnover, and facilitation of the daily surgery schedule.EDUCATION: Two year associate degree in surgical assisting or Military trained (military trained is able to sit for certification) or RNFA certificate demonstrating successful completion of First Assistant program or CSTFA certificate demonstrating successful completion of First Assistant program or Graduate of accredited Physician Assistantprogram LICENSE & CERTIFICATION: Certification or licensure as Surgical Assistant(based on educational background: CFA, CSA, PA-C, SA-C, CNOR for RNFA) within one year of hire. YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 1 year minimum in the Surgical Assistant role. REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: BLS Completes an annually certification of mandatory unit specific, hospital and safety education Special technology training as required with expansion of scope of services.
