       The Glenwood Community School District is currently taking applications for a Middle School Learning Support Coordinator for the 2024-2025 School Year. ( CLASSIFIED position , wage will be discussed with applicant)

Job Title: Middle School Learning Support Coordinator

Job Summary:

The Middle School Learning Support Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the academic and behavioral progress of students in in-school suspension or in need of additional support. This position requires an individual who is highly organized, able to work independently and as part of a team, and has experience working with high school-aged students.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement, manage and evaluate an effective academic program for students in in-school suspension that is in compliance with district and state guidelines.

  • Support individualized education plans (IEPs) and/or behavior intervention plans (BIPs) for students in in-school suspension.

  • Assess student academic and behavioral progress through the use of a variety of tools and strategies, and communicate progress to students, teachers, and administrators.

  • Provide instructional support to students in in-school suspension, including tutoring, homework help, and academic enrichment activities.

  • Collaborate with teachers and administrators to create a positive and safe school climate, and provide ongoing support and professional development opportunities for staff including Capturing Kids Hearts.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, attendance, and behavior.

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents, guardians, and community partners.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the school principal or other administrators.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in education or related field.

Experience working with middle school-aged students in a classroom or other educational setting, with a focus on behavior management and career planning.

Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Familiarity with state and district regulations related to student behavior and academic progress.

Experience with data analysis and using data to inform decision-making including student information systems.

Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques to support interpersonal and academic growth.

Ability to use technology effectively for record-keeping, communication, and instruction.

Working Conditions:

The Middle School Learning Support Coordinator will work in an educational setting and will have regular contact with students, teachers, administrators, and parents. The position may require occasional evening or weekend work to support student activities or events. The position may require some physical activity, including standing, walking, and carrying materials. The work environment may include exposure to noise, student behaviors, and other factors typically associated with a school environment.
