Summary About the Position: Serves as Technical Editor for the United States Army Information Systems Engineering Command (USAISEC) responsible for managing, creating, and editing engineering technical documents necessary to support the USAISEC command and mission. Additionally, serves as the alternate USAISEC Training Coordinator. This position is located at Communication Electronics Comand Information Systems Engineering Command Office of the Commander, Fort Huachuca, AZ. Responsibilities Prepares publications to be presented to multiple audiences such project lead engineers and engineering personnel, upper installation management, program and projects managers, customers, and the USAISEC higher headquarters. Makes edits to technical publications. Monitors document preparation performed by mission support contractors. Provides management direction to the CECOM-USAISEC Contracting Officer Representative or government activities regarding all publications in support of USAISEC and monitors document preparation performed by the support contractor. Verifies to USAISEC COR that publications meet required technical specifications and are of the quality contemplated by the contract. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. SPEIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience which includes I have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, which includes 1) Ensure documents conform to guidance, applicable regulations, and standards of technical publication; AND 2) Provide guidance into document format changes, optimal use of tables, charts, graphics, and plots to ensure clarity of technical data and descriptions; AND 3) Prepare and edit technical papers and publications to be presented to multiple audiences such project lead engineers and engineering personnel, upper installation management, program and projects managers, customers, and the USAISEC higher headquarters; AND 4) Present information clearly and at a level appropriate for the intended audience to promote understanding of the engineering plans, or technical content for assigned systems and items. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Planning and Evaluating Technical Competence Technical Documentation Writing Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required.
