NDSU Foundation Prospect Research Manager in Fargo, North Dakota

The Prospect Research Manager will work to enhance and support fundraising efforts through prospect research, dataorganization and data compilation. This position will focus on providing relationship insights and will providecomprehensive prospect research to support development efforts to achieve fundraising priorities. This position willorganize information to identify philanthropic patterns, tendencies, and relationships among individuals, corporations,and foundations. This position will gather and organize research findings to assess affinity, capacity, and propensity to give to the NDSU Foundation. The Prospect Research Manager will work collaboratively with Information Services,development, and leadership to help set strategic direction and ensure fundraising efforts are focused on working the right donors for the right gifts and the right time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Access internal and external sources to Perform prospect research, analyze, synthesize, and summarizeinformation independently making educated and ethical judgment calls on the validity, importance, and qualityof information found. 2. Prepare accurate research briefings for senior leadership and gift officers for the purposes of donorengagement, cultivation, and solicitation. 3. Study and organize information to identify philanthropic patterns, tendencies, and relationships primarilyamong individual donors and prospects. 4. Identify and organize pertinent internal database information into accessible, applicable data fields to beincorporated into research deliverables, reports, and dashboards. 5. Perform and maintain proactive research on specified constituent groups: Trustees, Principal Gift Prospects,Corporate Prospects. 6. Maintain and work within a research request queue. 7. Conduct data entry and maintain data integrity associated with all research related projects and responsibilities. 8. Inform and advise staff of current developments of prospect and donors currently under management. 9. Collaborate with the Directors of Development and Information Services to develop new approaches tounderstanding donor and alumni behavior. 10. Oversee projects regarding invitee/attendee data integrity and profiles. 11. In conjunction with the Vice President of Information Services, establish research goals, objectives, andpriorities. 12. Maintain regular communication with supervisor regarding research issues, objectives, and long-range strategicplanning.

Essential Functions: 1. Set priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress towards goals, and track details/data/information/activities. a. Efficiently operate a personal computer and associated software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) b. Maintain files accurately, in paper and in software programs c. Maintain records and prepare reports d. Handle multiple tasks simultaneously e. Plan, prioritize and meet deadlines 2. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with others both internally and externally to achieve the goals of the organization. a. Interact in an effective and appropriate manner with diverse populations, internal staff, Universitycommunity and the public 3. Work cooperatively and effectively with others to identify and resolve problems and make decisions thatenhance organizational effectiveness. a. Maintain confidentiality of records and information b. Display excellent judgment and decision making c. Follow through on projects with little supervision 4. Speak, listen, and write in a clear, thorough, and timely manner using appropriate and effective communicationtools and techniques. 5. Prompt and reliable attendance. 6. Demonstrate support of Foundation mission and beliefs.

Minimum Qualifications: 1. Bachelors Degree or equivalent related education and/or experience 2. 2+ years experience in analytical, research, or information specialist role 3. Ability to identify, retrieve, analyze and synthesize complex data from dive se sources 4. Ability to think strategically 5. Knowledge and/or experience with database systems 6. Proficiency with technology including Microsoft Office products 7. Excellent oral and written communication skills 8. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, co-workers and constituents 9. Strong interpersonal skills 10. Ability to stay on task within the context of the big picture goal 11. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with appropriate discretion 12. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment 13. Strong attention to detail 14. Proficiency with technology including Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications: 1. 3 years experience in analytical, research, or information specialist role 2. Experience working in a higher education or non-profit setting 3. Experience with Salesforce

Physical and Mental Demands: Constantly operates a computer/smartphone/tablet. Regularly required to maintain a stationary position, move aboutthe office, determine what others have said or written, critical thinking and converse with others and exchange accurateinformation. Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about the office and within the community. Mayalso include occasional bending, stooping, squatting, and/or pushing and pulling or moving objects. Occasionallyrequired to move, raise, reach and/or retrieve binders, books, boxes, and files up to ten (10) pounds.
