Position Summary

This Senior Geotechnical Engineer position is based out of our Denver (Englewood), Colorado office and would support ongoing Engineer-of-Record (EOR) services for tailings and heap leach projects within the USA as well as international locations. The successful candidate will perform technical lead, Deputy EOR, or EOR duties and support the development of geotechnical investigation, design work, as well as systematic monitoring and surveillance activities. Additional professional experiences and project support would include earthen dam design, geotechnical site assessments and associated field services, dam breach evaluations, stability and deformation analyses, instrumentation installation design and data review, annual dam safety inspections, participation in audits and risk assessment, among other work. The position is meant to be dynamic and will be supported by multiple design teams (civil, hydrogeological, etc.). The role as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer also includes developing and maintaining client relationships and working with clients to execute scopes of work successfully.

Responsibilities

· Support ongoing EOR services for tailings and heap leach projects within the USA as well as international locations.

· Support earthen dam designs and construction oversight

· Complete geotechnical site assessments and associated field services for the development of mining infrastructure.

· Support initial and ongoing material characterization activities including gathering field data, designing and overseeing laboratory programs, interpreting laboratory data, and developing appropriate constitutive models.

· Perform stability and deformation analyses for mining infrastructure including tailings storage facilities and heap leach pads.

· Perform seepage analyses using finite element software such as Seep/W, Rocscience, etc.

· Perform liquefaction and dynamic analyses for tailings, embankment, and foundation materials.

· Perform and evaluate bearing capacity and settlement analyses for mining infrastructure.

· Assist with tailings dam breach evaluations.

· Develop and maintain client relationships.

· Assist with proposals for mining-related design project.

· Develop and execute project management plans.

· Work with and provide training to mid-level and junior engineers.

· Assist with generating design drawings using Autodesk Civil 3D.

· Assist with the preparation of construction specifications.

· Other tasks as assigned by your supervisor

Requirements

Qualifications:

·Education:Master of Science (preferred); Bachelor of Science (considered). Civil Engineering degrees from ABET-accredited universities are preferred. Alternative degrees (e.g., Geologic Engineering, Mining Engineering) will be considered based on relevant coursework.

·Professional Experience:6+ for Senior Level with an MS degree; 8+ for Senior Level with a BS degree.

·Computer Software:Significant experience with MS Office Suite. Proficiency using standard geotechnical design software (Rocscience, GeoStudios, etc.); numerical modeling experience is advantageous; and basic understanding of Autodesk Civil 3D.

·Geotechnical Laboratory:Proficient with standard material testing and index tests. Knowledgeable with data analysis from compressibility, hydraulic conductivity, and shear strength test data. Experience with dynamic testing desired.

·Required Registrations / Professional Development:PE registration or a path to registration clearly defined.

·Travel:Must have the ability to travel in the U.S. and internationally to support field programs.

·Technical writing:Experience writing technical reports, technical memorandums, and proposals.

·Other (Project Level):Working knowledge of geotechnical monitoring instrumentation; various geotechnical tools for subsurface assessments (drilling methods; CPT; geophysics; etc.); numerical modeling methods and software.
