Minimum Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Computer Science or concentration in a technical field, or equivalent experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in developing relational database applications and query optimization

  • 3-5 years of experience with database design/architecture in a relational database environment

  • 3-5 years of experience with basic database administration

  • 3-5 years of Experience with stored procedures, functions, scripting etc.

  • 3-5 years of experience creating ETL packages for data integration

  • Experience with Git/Github

  • 1-3 years of experience with AWS services (Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora)

  • Scripting skills (Python, PowerShell, or similar)

  • Knowledge related to computer hardware including networks and storage devices (SANS)

  • Ability to understand large data models quickly

  • Strong ability to work with and provide technical leadership to other team members

  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the .NET platform

  • Knowledge of services-oriented architecture

  • Knowledge of NoSQL technology

  • SQL Server experience

  • PostgreSQL experience

  • MySQL experience

  • DynamoDB experience

  • MongoDB experience

  • Terraform experience

Job Summary

As a Database Engineer, you'll be a database specialist focused on enabling application development and ensuring our databases are secure, scalable and highly-performant to meet the demands of our rapidly growing and ever-changing environment. Your expertise in SQL Server, AWS database technologies and automation will drive efficiency and reliability.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure quality data creation, presentation, and data flow across systems

  • Maintain and enhance the performance of existing database programs.

  • Assist application teams with on-premises and cloud database solutions. Ensure database solutions align with enterprise standards and requirements.

  • Design and implement scalable solutions using AWS services (such as Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora, or DynamoDB etc.).

  • Work closely with the database administrators with forecasting storage, disaster recovery and archiving needs.

  • Monitor databases and related systems to ensure optimal performance.

  • Implement performance enhancements, including query optimization and indexing.

  • Build automation tools (CI/CD, Unit Testing, IAC etc.) to streamline database processes.

  • Ensure data security and compliance. Safeguard sensitive information.

  • Document database designs, configurations, and best practices.

  • Research and evaluate new database technologies and third-party tools to increase database efficiency for on-premise and cloud.

  • Participates in regular on-call rotation

  • Champion the company culture
