Job Summary

Get ready for the 2024 El Paso County Fair - It's EPIC out here! Join us from July 13th to July 20th, 2024, at the El Paso County Fair & Event Center. Step right up and become a Seasonal Gate Attendant Cashier! As part of our team, you'll be at the center of the action, providing exceptional service to fairgoers and ensuring everyone has a fantastic time from the moment they enter the gates. Hiring Range: $15.00 - $16.00 (commensurate with qualifications)

This nine-day position is located at the Fairgrounds in Calhan from July 13th - July 20th and has an anticipated work schedule between 9:00 am and 9:30 pm. Under FLSA guidelines, this position is non-exempt.

Training will take place on July 11th from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Performs clerical duties for the County Fair, to include collecting payments, issuing tickets, stamping visitors for re-entry, monitoring visitor entry, and responding to visitor requests for information.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent customer service to fair customers and assists County employees, board members, and volunteers.

  • Works outside and at ticket/entry booths, including collecting payments, issuing tickets, stamping visitors for re-entry, and monitoring visitor entry.

  • Shares County Fair information with customers and responds to visitor requests.

  • Follows established cash-handling procedures.

  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must possess a positive and friendly attitude.

  • Must be able to work long hours, evenings, and weekends for the duration of the fair and training.

  • Ability to operate point of sale (POS) system/cash register including computers, electronic scanners, or related equipment.

  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with co-workers, other County personnel, and the public.

  • A flexible team player with the ability to work successfully in a changing environment.

  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Cash handling experience.

    Preferred Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent education.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Must pass conditional post offer background investigation and drug screen.

Work Conditions

Duties are performed in a ticket booth and outdoors, sometimes in high volume stressful situations. May be required to work long hours, evenings, and weekends. This is a temporary position typically not to exceed five months.
