Description

As a Help Desk Technician, you will be the first point of contact for users seeking technical assistance within our organization. You will provide support and troubleshooting for software, hardware, and network-related issues, ensuring prompt resolution and minimal downtime. Your role will involve maintaining accurate records of user inquiries and solutions provided, as well as escalating complex issues to the appropriate IT personnel when necessary.

  • Provide Technical Support: Respond to user inquiries via phone, email, or in-person regarding technical issues, including software, hardware, and network problems. Offer timely resolution or escalate issues to higher-level support teams as needed.

  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues reported by users, utilizing problem-solving skills and technical knowledge to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.

  • Software Installation and Configuration: Assist users with the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of software applications, ensuring compatibility and adherence to organizational standards.

  • Hardware Maintenance: Perform basic hardware maintenance tasks, such as installing or replacing components like RAM, hard drives, or peripherals. Coordinate with vendors for hardware repairs or replacements under warranty.

  • User Training and Guidance: Provide guidance and training to users on software and hardware usage, best practices, and security protocols to enhance their productivity and prevent future issues.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of user inquiries, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions in the help desk ticketing system. Create and update documentation, including FAQs and knowledge base articles, to facilitate self-service and improve support efficiency.

  • Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor system performance and proactively identify potential issues or trends. Generate reports on help desk activity, including ticket volume, resolution times, and user satisfaction, to assess support effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.

  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other IT teams and departments to resolve complex technical issues and implement system improvements or upgrades. Participate in cross-functional projects to support organizational goals and initiatives.

    Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field preferred.

  • Proven experience as a help desk technician or in a similar technical support role.

  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, and operating systems (e.g., Windows, macOS, Linux).

  • Familiarity with networking concepts and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).

  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.

  • Customer-focused attitude with a commitment to providing high-quality support and service.

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional) are a plus.
