M&T Bank Technology Talent Strategic Initiatives Lead in Buffalo, New York

This position follows a hybrid work schedule with three days in the office and two days work from home. Candidates must be able to work out of Buffalo, NY

As part of our team, we are hiring a Strategic Initiatives Lead who will be responsible for leading key strategic initiatives across the Tech Talent teams, supporting functions in our Operations, Internal Upskilling and Reskilling, and Programs pillars across the organization.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Supports the team responsible for all tech training offerings at the Tech Academy, including internal upskilling and reskilling for M&T talent and external talent in the larger ecosystem.

  • Supports the team responsible for the Tech Academy’s operations, systems, and business functions.

  • Supports the team responsible for the Tech Academy’s Talent Programs, including both traditional talent and community pipelines.

  • Leads critical routines across talent and has direct ownership over operationalizing the operating model across M&T Tech Talent.

  • Owns partnerships with M&T Tech’s Data Academy and other key internal stakeholder partnerships across Cyber and Cloud initiatives.

  • Owns end to end Tech Talent data, reporting, and strategy execution.

  • Owns end to end all vendor partnerships, contracts, and compliance for the Tech Talent team.

  • Partners closely with M&T Bank’s Talent acquisition team to develop and execute critical recruitment and hiring strategies as it relates to Experienced Hire initiatives.

  • Collaborates closely with Talent Programs Lead and Tech Talent Director on shared initiatives across the Tech Talent team that are critical to business success.

  • Create presentations that leverage quantitative and qualitative data for share-outs with critical internal and external stakeholders and leadership.

  • Leads retros and feedback sessions to assess outcomes and improvement plans for future iterations across team’s direct scope of work.

  • Exude excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills that promote the M&T Tech brand.

  • Applies strong attention to detail and high-quality of work to enhance program impact and stakeholder satisfaction.

  • Has direct ownership over budget for assigned projects, teams, and scope of work.

  • Works with a portfolio of Tech vendors to build partnerships, address program needs, gain a thorough understanding of functionality, in order to provide insights on implementation.

  • Potential for direct reports and people leadership in future state

  • Some travel within the Bank’s footprint required.

  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree with combined 7+ years’ experience in Operations, Business, Analytics and Economics, Computer Science and Engineering, and/or Business Administration

  • Combined 3+ years in a people leadership role

  • Experience managing a robust budget.

  • Experience working with vendors and external partners to deliver on business outcomes.

  • Ability to present to management at all levels, including the executive leadership team.

  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills

  • Advanced experience with managing data and leveraging quantitative resources in strategic decision making and planning.

  • Strong time management skills

  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of technical capabilities and competencies across the industry.

  • Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize multiple competing initiatives.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, and ability to work autonomously.

  • Advanced presentation skills and ability to use data to tell a story.

  • An interest in working with Technology stakeholders.

Education and Experience Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Business, Economics and/or Analytics, Business, and/or Computer Science and Engineering

  • Direct experience in a technical background that includes functions such as coding, application development, UX and/or UI.

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $85,104.04 - $141,840.07 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
