Fedcap Alternative Engagement Specialist in Bronx, New York

Position Summary:

The Alternative Engagement (AE) Specialist will be responsible for referring Youth Pathways members to Alternative Opportunities based on the members interests, skills, and assessment outcomes. They will develop relationships with Alternative Engagement providers and maintain consistent communication to ensure successful enrollment and completion of our Youth Pathways members. They will collaborate and communicate seamlessly with Youth Pathways Service Coordinators to provide them with updates on Alternative Engagement assignments and member progress or issues that arise onsite. The AE specialist is also responsible for following up on weekly attendance for all members enrolled in Alternative Engagement. The AE Specialist will follow up with members’ who are enrolled in training from start date to completion.

Essential Job Functions :

  • Effectively partner with external Alternative Engagement Providers to ensure that referrals to AE are appropriate and meet the minimum requirements.

  • Work collaboratively with program members to discuss AE opportunities and make appropriate referrals.

  • Follow up with members to ensure they attend their first appointment with AE providers and successfully enroll in program.

  • Confirm member’s enrollment in AE by securing documentation.

  • Maintain consistent and ongoing communication with AE partners to ensure members are progressing and identify and address any potential issues/challenges to ensure successful completion.

  • Work collaboratively with Service Coordinators to share updates on member progress and keep them informed of any issues that arise and when additional follow-up may need be to occur.

  • Establish a robust list of AE providers and create and maintain an AE guide for both staff and participants.

  • Facilitate information sessions for members on various AE opportunities.

  • Coordinate ongoing presentations with AE partners.

  • Conduct site visits to AE providers as necessary.

  • Monitor attendance of members at AE site.

  • Update and maintain the Education and Training report for submission to funder.

    Education and Experience :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Education, or comparable work-related experience

  • Superior communication skills (verbal and written).

  • Experience and/or a demonstrated desire to work with the economically disadvantaged, homeless, and/or public assistance recipients’ populations.

  • Ability to meet deadlines, juggle multiple priorities, and excel in a team environment.

  • Bilingual (English Spanish) preferred.
