Director, Clinical Pharmacy Operations

What you’ll do:

As a Director, Clinical Pharmacy Operations, you will beresponsible for designing, implementing, and managing the pharmacy clinical programs. This includes clinical program design, formulary management, policy and procedure development and education across the healthcare spectrum. There will be added focus on oncology and specialty medications.

Responsibilities:

· Develop and oversee standardized clinical pharmacy program for enterprise/facilities. · Develop annual clinical pharmacy business plan in conjunction with Lifepoint pharmacy team that ensures positive patient outcomes and appropriate drug utilization. · Assist in preparing, organizing, and facilitating Acute Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) meeting.
· Assist in system formulary development through review of primary literature. · Analyze drug spend trends to identify areas of opportunity and implement appropriate use/development of protocols and guidelines – i.e. dose rounding protocols, restrictions, etc. Oncology service line included. · Provide supporting documentation, “white papers” or other information needed to facilitate P&T Committee preparation as needed. · Schedule and prepare drug class reviews for System P&T Committee · Lead Lifepoint Clinical Advisory Group (CAG) · Participate in System Clinical Service Line meetings. · Prepare clinical portion of Pharmacy Key Performance Indicator report. · Ensure appropriate and effective use of clinical intervention documentation. · Provide periodic review of documented clinical interventions and provide summary reports and recommendations to facilities on quality/content of documentation. · Maintain effective communication with facility directors and leadership teams on clinical initiatives and facility results. · Assist in development of “best practice” recommendations for clinical procedures to minimize adverse events and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. · Participate in quality improvement, fiscal and productivity goals, and objectives with Lifepoint Pharmacy leadership. · Assist pharmacy departments in meeting market share goals. Provide on-site assistance if needed.
· Facilitate review of Lifepoint ADE/ADR reports to work on identifying trends and process improvement initiatives. · Assist in preparation and implementation of pharmacy staff competencies and educational programs. related to clinical activities. · Serve as clinical resource for Lifepoint facilities. · Perform other duties as assigned by VP of Pharmacy Operations

What you’ll need:

EDUCATION:

· PharmD required.

· Residency training or BCPS certification preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5-10 years’ experience as a clinical pharmacist in a hospital setting
  • Previous experience as a clinical coordinator or clinical manager in a large, complex facility preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:

· PharmD
