Maintenance Technician
Position Summary:
Provide technical support (electrical & mechanical) to the production lines. Maintain maintenance and repairs that meet the needs of plant Operations. Continuously improve the safety results of the maintenance shop by challenging and improving our safety procedures and methods. Continuously maintain a constant flow of communication and information within the team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform electrical and mechanical support to resolve ongoing issues for all machines.
Support the plant operations needs by participating in the daily operations meeting.
Assist Mechanical Specialists with machine upgrades and CIP activities that require electrical and mechanical input.
Identify and develop plans to resolve long term production (electrical and mechanical) issues.
Actively pursue continuous process improvement activities to maximize product quality, uptime, waste and material usage.
Participate in maintenance meetings at regular intervals for communication and problem solving.
Assist Electrical Specialist in developing training to enhance electrical skills of the maintenance technicians.
Maintain maintenance shop equipment in safe workable condition.
Guide Production technicians on safe electrical and mechanical work practices.
Participate in electrical and mechanical trainings to build personal capabilities and transfer information to other maintenance technicians.
Assist technology group with the development of electrical and mechanical CIP plans associated with Capital projects.
Ensure understanding of different ongoing plant projects among maintenance team.
Coach, Train, Develop, and motivate team members through feedback, participation, group decision-making, and open communication.
Encourage an open and positive CAN-DO environment.
Recognize individuals/team for their accomplishments.
Assist Safety Leader in identifying and repairing electrical and mechanical hazards.
Provide input to the Technology Engineers with potential issue identifications and developing proposals for the capital projects. Support key project startups.
Communicate with other resource and support team member for an efficient operation.
Proactively work with Mechanical Specialists in understanding the plant operations needs and develop plans to support them.
Proactively solicit feedback on the Maintenance technicians service from the internal customers to ensure all the needs are being met.
Work with Business Unit Leaders and operating teams to develop a strong working relationship between Maintenance and production.
Develop and implement systems to ensure spare parts functionality after they arrive in the plant.
Maintain communication with BUL regarding efficiencies, action plans, employee relation concerns or other information that impacts the success of the business.
Coordinate the P.M. activities to minimize the unscheduled P.M. time to an optimal level.
Assist activities to minimize spare parts usage cost with the Mechanical Specialists ($100).
Optimize the cost of rebuild parts.
Assist Procurement Team Leader in identifying the optimal level of spare parts inventory.
A willingness to support lines crewmembers in day-to-day operations and short-term coverage in operating the line.
EDUCATION:
2 Year Industrial Maintenance Degree OR 3 years Industrial Maintenance Experience (both mechanical & electrical)
EXPERIENCE:
Machine electrical and mechanical process knowledge
Strong electrical trouble shooting skills
Preferred Technical knowledge of Allen Bradley, Siemens 500/505 family, Siemens S5 family PLCs.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Walking: (Frequent) Maintenance technician must be able to walk to complete various duties associated with essential job functions such as diagnosing machines malfunctions, performing mechanical maintenance work, handling parts, operating tooling, performing PM, assisting in machine setups, and performing cleaning duties.
Sitting: (Occasional) Maintenance technician must be able to sit to perform various duties associated with essential job functions such as operating fork truck and completing computer work.
Lifting: (Occasional) Maintenance technician must be able to lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist height of 36 inches to complete various duties associated with essential job function such as handling various parts and tooling. (Occasional) Maintenance technician must be able to lift up to 25 pounds from floor to shoulder height of 60 inches to complete various duties associated with essential job functions such as removing/installing various parts.
Carrying: (Occasional) Maintenance technician must be able to must be able to complete side/front carries weighing up to 50 pounds for distances of up to 20 feet to complete various duties associated with essential job functions such as handing various parts.
Pushing/Pulling: (Occasional) Maintenance technician must be able to generate pushing/pulling forces up to 50 pounds to complete various duties associated with essential job functions such as performing mechanical maintenance work, handling parts, operating tooling, performing PM, assisting in machine setups, and performing cleaning duties.
