Amazon Finance Manager, Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) in Bellevue, Washington

Description

Amazon seeks a highly effective Finance Manager to be a key member of the Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) Finance team. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the most innovative and fastest growing businesses at Amazon. This is a new role partnering with the organization building modeling services and high-performance compute infrastructure with state-of-the-art (SOTA) throughput, scale, and efficiency, in an Amazon-compliant environment for foundational models across all modalities. AGI Scientists use our high-performance infrastructure, modeling toolkits and optimized workflows to build, train and release SOTA models. We eliminate undifferentiated, bespoke effort in AGI by providing consistent frameworks across modalities and by leveraging AWS solutions where possible. Our services improve the scalability, performance, trust, cost and speed-to-market for AGI.

The right individual is a self-starter comfortable in fast paced environments with high ambiguity. This person will be willing and able to dive deep into data to understand and identify business trends, analyze quantitatively, problem-solve and prioritize. Strong oral and written communication skills are crucial, as well as the ability to analyze quantitatively, identify and clearly convey long-term risks and opportunities, and create and implement new processes. The successful candidate will have a proven work ethic and a track record of delivering results.

Key job responsibilities

• Partner with the AGI modeling solutions and high-performance compute teams on the design and implementation of key performance indicators and reporting solutions to drive insights and enable quicker and more effective decision making

• Ownership of proactively identifying metric anomalies and highlighting reporting issues and gaps for leadership and partnering with cross-functional teams to determine and implement solutions

• Identify, quantify and drive operational and cost efficiency initiatives for the business focused on high-performance compute resources

• Ad hoc analysis including creating, maintaining and expanding the scope of the business and financial models that highlight opportunities and deliver results

A day in the life

Success in this role:

You will learn and be curious to understand the details which drive modeling and compute costs for our AGI teams to lead initiatives to streamline processes, including financial planning and reporting, along with driving investment and efficiency initiatives. The role requires an individual who is willing to work in an ambiguous environment and make a big impact. The successful candidate will have a high attention to detail and internal drive to deliver work products of the highest standard. You continuously look for areas of improvement, and implement automation in order to reduce your manual work load to focus on delivering insights for the business.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

  • 6+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA, or CPA

  • 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience

  • Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, including experience in developing financial reports and models

  • A self-starter that thrives in a dynamic environment

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workload

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $81,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
