Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Medical Director of the Atlanta University Consortium Center ( AUCC ) Student Health and Wellness Center ( SHWC ), the wellness coordinator will work collaboratively with the AUCC - SHWC team to develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate a comprehensive health promotion program. The wellness coordinator will assist the AUCC - SHWC in developing evidence-informed strategies for enhancing student health and well-being. The wellness coordinator will monitor and provide reports and feedback on the status of students. This position will also include other general administrative tasks, communications, inventory management, and support to department events. The wellness coordinator should have excellent communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION :

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution with a concentration in psychology, social work, community psychology, organizational behavior, sociology, or other behavioral and social sciences is preferred.

    EXPERIENCE :

  • A minimum of three (3) years relevant experience in a student-centric environment, post-secondary environment is required.

  • Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office along with database software experience, Quest, Sharepoint, DropBox. Also experience with various social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, etc.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Health Education Specialist

  • Master’s Degree in Health Education, Public Health, Higher Education or closely related field is desirable.

  • Prior work experience in higher education and grant writing

Job Duties

Description of Job Duty

  • Assists with the development, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based health promotion strategies, policies, programs, and services based on the needs and priorities of the AUCC - SHWC

  • Collaborates with key stakeholders on and off campus to contribute to a comprehensive, and multidisciplinary approach to the AUCC students’ health

  • Functions as a liaison between the AUCC , AUCC schools, and the SHWC

  • Practices cultural humility and incorporates social justice concepts and principles into health promotion processes

  • Reports on health promotion processes and events to AUCC - SHWC staff and key stakeholders

  • Maintains a collaborative relationship with appropriate departments and offices across the AUCC

  • Supports AUCC policies that advance and promote health and well-being

  • Participates in coalition building

  • Actively participates in professional organizations

  • Provides monthly updates and collaborates with the Nurse Manager, Medical Director, Associate Medical Director, and epidemiologist on activities, utilizing an assessment tool

  • Creates reports regarding the submission of student data to Point and Click (electronic medical records system)

  • Manages and monitors all social media used by the AUCC - SHWC

  • Manages and monitors the Sexually Transmitted Infections ( STI ) clinic

  • Manages other administrative tasks as assigned, e.g., N-95 fit test, immunization compliance, etc.

It is MSM’s Immunization policy that all Prospective Employees are required to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID -19 prior to commencement of employment. If employment will commence during Flu Season, MSM requires all individuals to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless granted an exemption. Failure to provide proof of vaccination for any required vaccines or obtain an exemption from MSM will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.
