Location: Atlanta, Georgia (Midtown)

Work Style : Hybrid (in office M/T/W/Th)

Database Engineers at NCR Atleos experience working at one of the largest and most recognized financial companies in the world, while being part of a software development team responsible for next generation technologies and solutions. Our engineers design and build large scale data storage, computation and distribution systems. They partner with data and analytics experts to deliver high quality analytical and derived data to our consumers.

Position Summary & Key Areas of Responsibility

As a Database Engineer, you will be joining our Database & Modernization team transforming our global financial network and improving our data products and services we provide to our internal customers. This team will leverage cutting edge & modernization techniques to develop scalable solutions for managing databases on-prem and cloud. In this role, you are expected to:

Database Administration:

  • Install, patch, upgrade, configure, tune, and maintain Oracle E-Business Suite 12i and 11g/12c databases.

  • Manage Oracle EBS application and PL/SQL code.

  • Serve as the day-to-day technical lead for developers, handling enhancements and problem resolutions.

  • Analyze, design, develop, test, and implement application enhancements.

  • Deploy code changes to production.

System Support and Monitoring:

  • Participate in system administration and operational support.

  • Review and analyze system logs, backups, and file restores.

  • Monitor system performance and assist with capacity planning.

  • Evaluate and implement new technologies and tools for the application development environment.

Database Performance and Tuning:

  • Analyze performance issues across E-Business Suite installations.

  • Manage resources to assist development teams with query tuning, patch reviews, configuration, and code migrations.

  • Develop strategies for purging, archiving, and cloning.

Basic Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience

  • At least 4+ years’ experience as a database engineering in a medium to large scale solutions to include experience with tasks such as database migration, automation, modernization, database replication, backup and recovery, and general DBA tasks

  • Hands on experience in database security, back-up, recovery, and high availability strategies.

  • Experience migrating from traditional on-prem OLTP/OLAP databases to cloud native DBaaS and/or NoSQL databases like Cassandra, Neo4J, Mongo DB etc.

  • Deep expertise operating in a cloud environment, and with cloud native databases like OCI, Azure, Oracle, Cosmos DB, Couchbase, etc.

  • Proficiency in various database migration techniques, such as EBS, ERP, Hierarchical, Relational, or NoSQL modeling and disaster recovery.

  • Excellent design, development, and tuning experience with SQL (OLTP and OLAP) and NoSQL databases.

  • Experience with modern database DevOps tools like Liquibase or Redgate Flyway or DBmaestro.

  • Deep understanding of database application and clustering, disaster recovery, and related architecture

  • Experience with Agile development and dev ops tools like Git, Maven, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, tools

  • Monitor and troubleshoot database issues, codebase and database queries, and provide timely resolutions.

  • Develop and maintain database documentation includes design and operational procedure.

  • Excellent written and strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to a diverse audience.

  • Passion for learning with a proactive mindset, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related fields.

  • Relevant certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Oracle Certified Associate (OCA)

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Databases Administration Associate
