What can you expect?

As the Construction Project Manager, you are responsible for managing projects including the development of cost estimates and coordination of bid activities for construction, demolition and environmental projects. You will also coordinate with the Construction Management team on determining necessary resources for projects based on cost estimates and budgetary constraints.

How will you do it?

  • With direction from the Construction Program Manager, you will manage projects at the client and contract level.
  • Develop and define criteria for projects key deliverables and continually monitor critical milestones.
  • Perform project cost estimating and value engineering as appropriate.
  • Ensure projects stays aligned to the expected goals and delivers the planned benefits.
  • Oversee all aspects of daily management of field projects including monitoring and coordinating work by field staff and subcontracts.
  • Manage all logistic requirements for remote field projects.
  • Responsible for cost, schedule, quality control management and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify, analyze, and prepare for all project risks and ensure compliance to quality, safety and security processes.
  • Attend site visits to determine scope and accuracy of drawings; may require multi-day visits and/or overnight stay.
  • Review project plans and specifications and coordinate with the team to confirm complete scope.
  • Review general conditions, schedule, scope of work, site logistics and other exhibits.
  • Review labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to self-perform or subcontract.
  • Prepare instructions to subcontractors with bid solicitation information and solicits subcontractor information and pricing.
  • Solicit vendor quotes and performs analysis for incorporation into project estimate and assists in the procurement and tracking of materials.
  • Prepare project estimates and ensures all factors are properly considered, scheduled, priced and included in the estimate.
  • Responsible for review of estimates prepared by others, for completeness and accuracy prior to submission.
  • Assist in the development of project budgets and estimates to complete.
  • Oversee records management of project cost history.
  • Assist in the pricing of change orders or additional work.
  • Ensure the flow of project information is maintained and documented.
  • Maintain and communicate data on construction and material cost trends affecting project costs.
  • Build effective relationships with customers, specialty contractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support company core alues and meets or exceeds the customer's expectations.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Functions:

This position has occasional supervision of the Project Engineer/QCs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Technical knowledge of various field construction concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of construction, architectural, and building industry standard operating practices/procedures.
  • Knowledge of standard construction estimating practices.
  • Knowledge of different project delivery types; design build, hard dollar, negotiated, cost plus, etc.
  • Knowledge of procurement rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of cost-to-completion projections.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Ability to read and understand complex contract documents.
  • Ability to read construction plans and specifications.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong self-motivation and work ethic; ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work productively under pressure.
  • Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.

Who is Brice Solutions looking for?

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management or similar degree required; four years of project management or construction estimating experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Valid state drivers license and must be qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of Brice Solutions driving policy. Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely and effectively.
  • Ability to pass a drug, driving and background screening.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of remote logistics and construction practices strongly preferred.
  • Federal construction estimating experience preferred.
